FIGHTING OVER GIFTS FROM GOD
(what a shame!)
If the gift of speaking in tongues WAS NOT of God, why would the
bible ask the church elders to REGULATE the speaking of tongues
in church services? Why would God tell us NOT TO FORBID speaking
tongues in church?
1 CORINTHIANS 14:27-28
27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or
at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
28 But if there be no interpreter, let him keep silence in the
church; and let him speak to himself, and to God.
1 CORINTHIANS 14:39-40
39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak
with tongues.
40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
Those on BOTH sides of this issue IGNORE the word of God. The anti-tongues people FORBID tongues in their churches, which is a CLEAR violation of verse 39 as stated above.
The pro-tongues people RARELY enforce the regulations concerning spiritual gifts, and simply do as they please in church services. (yet they CLAIM their actions are being directed by the Holy Ghost)
As usual, most believers simply PICK & CHOOSE what they want to believe, and IGNORE the rest of the bible. BOTH sides of those on the tongues issue ignore the verses which command women to be silent in church services. (which are in the same chapter as the verses concerning speaking in tounges)
The pro-tongues folk get angry when a non-tongues believer says that tongues are NOT FOR TODAY, yet the pro-tongues people say the SAME THING when it regards the subject of a woman speaking in church. Talk ABOUT, a DOUBLE STANDARD!
1 CORINTHIANS 14:34-35
34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
35 And if they will learn any
thing, let them ask their husbands at
home: for it is a shame for women to
speak in the church.
Let's quit playing God, and start BELIEVING God. ALL of the book is inspired by the Holy Spirit, either believe ALL or NONE of it. ACTS 2:39 states that ALL of God's gifts are for ALL who have been CALLED of God. If you are not CALLED, you are not SAVED. If you are saved, His gifts are YOURS. (and they are also given to all future generations)
ACTS 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
I am sure a LOT of what is claimed to be the gift of tongues, is NOT what occurred in the book of Acts and other places in the bible. Like our profession of faith, ONLY God knows our hearts true intent. If someone gets a blessing from GIBBERISH, so what! As long as they abide by the rules God ordained for church services, it should not matter to you. (it is between them and God)
There is really no pentecostal, or non-pentecostal churches, in the sight of God. There are only believers and non-believers. (the lost, and the saved) NO LOCAL BODY OF BELIEVERS does everything in accordance with THE BOOK, so let's quit fighting over GIFTS from God. If you wonder WHY there is so much division between Christians today, just LOOK around and see what we are doing with what God has ALREADY given us! In truth, we are lucky that God even bothers with us at all...
