THOU SHALT NOT KILL

There are many people who quote the above commandment, and imply that it rules out the death sentence for any offence. It is truly sad how well intentioned people can be so mis- informed, especially if they claim to believe and honour God's word.

This commandment is taken from Exodus, chapter 20, verse 13. If this was the only verse in the bible regarding the subject, we could all assume that killing was a sin without exceptions. Since the bible has more then one verse, it may be wise to glean a little more information before we form any final conclusions.

The very first verse in chapter 20 says that God spake ALL THESE WORDS. He continues in chapter 21 with MORE JUDGEMENTS for His people to follow. A common problem occurs when people see something in scripture that fits their idea of how things should be, and they close the book at that point! This is a very poor way to learn anything, especially when it regards things relating to God and His concepts.

In chapter 21 of the book of Exodus, the following rules are clearly spelled out:

* Verse 12 demands that when a man kills another person, HE SHALL SURELY be put to DEATH.

* Verse 14 also demands DEATH for someone who kills his neighbour.

* Verse 15 demands DEATH for anyone who even hits their parents.

* Verse 17 demands DEATH for anyone who even curses their parents.

* Verse 22-23 demands DEATH for anyone who aborts an unborn child.

* Verse 29 demands DEATH if a man allows his dangerous animals to roam free, and they kill others.

This is just a token sample of a few crimes, for which the DEATH PENALTY is mandated by the Creator. Witchcraft, adultery, and many other sins were also offences that merited the DEATH PENALTY.

God does not contradict Himself, the commandment simply says that we should not commit MURDER. The word translated KILL actually means MURDER, which is causing death for an unjust cause or reason. To NOT KILL for a just cause, would violate all of the OTHER scriptures regarding this subject.

If you elect to use scripture to back your views, don't pick out one scripture and use it out of context, and ignore everything else the bible says concerning the subject. Even the new testament scriptures tell us that the government has the POWER OF THE SWORD, which is the power to terminate life for violations of law. (Romans 13:4) This power over life & death is actually delegated to government as a form of MINISTRY! If you doubt this, you need to read THE BOOK.

The problems we face in America are amplified because of our lax law enforcement, and our insane corrections policies. We are afraid to punish anyone, except our law abiding citizens. Jail should be a harsh environment, and the death penalty should be swift and certain for criminals who have been proven guilty of major crimes in a court of law.

If Mr. Timothy McVeigh is truly guilty, he should die for his crimes. The sad part is that the federal people who have hidden behind their badges, will not have to die for their crimes. We should quit using the term JUSTICE in America, as it is no where to be found. We twist the word of God, mock common sense, and use the collective thoughts of infidels to guide our every step. If you choose to believe this foolishness, have at it. But please, do not slander God by claiming that you are following His commandments...
