Many computer users have seen this dreaded message appear on their computer screen from time to time, especially when DOS was the most common operating system in use.
I remember back around 1980, I had a friend with a Heathkit computer. I knew nothing about operating systems, but I would attempt to invoke a response from the computer by typing in words and commands.
Suddenly, I saw the FATAL SYSTEM ERROR message displayed right before my eyes! I assumed the worst, believing I had done something which had destroyed the computers data or operating system. It was truly locked up, and nothing I tried seemed to help. I felt terrible, and dreaded having to tell my friend I had done something really BAD to his computer when he returned. To avoid more problems, I simply turned off the power switch to the computer. (hoping that would not cause more damage)
When my friend returned, he just switched the computer back on without any questions or comment. To my amazement it "re-booted" perfectly, and that terrible message was gone! I could not believe how easily the computer functioned for him, as he typed commands and got the responses he desired upon demand.
Finally, I could take it no more. I told him I had messed up his computer, as a FATAL SYSTEM ERROR had occurred. I was still certain the computer would "bomb out" any second, and lock up once again. My friend smiled and laughed out loud, and he did seem worried about what I had told him.
He told me the same error occurred from time to time with all computers, no matter who was operating them at the time. It was simply a state where the computer was unable to implement a specific instruction, so the system simply halted the processing of data. A simple one byte error, or an attempt to perform some invalid instruction (or combination of instructions), could lead to such a system failure.
The good news was that the condition was only temporary, as simply "re-booting" the computer nearly always cleared up the problem. As long as any new data had been saved before the "crash," there would be no loss of data. At worst, you would have to re-type or replace a few bytes missing or damaged in a data file.
This is almost exactly the same type of problem we have with our government in America today. These guys and dolls have caused a FATAL SYSTEM ERROR, and NOTHING can be done to restore it's proper operation without a RE-BOOTING process.
We need to replace the flawed and corrupted data which has led up to the problem, and START AFRESH with a complete new data set. We need a brand new operating system, which does not contain ANY of the old data from the past systems.
Even dedicated and honest politicians (if any exist), cannot work within the flawed system to overcome the problems which have caused our nation to decline so low. The SYSTEM, has the power to render the people we elect completely ineffective, if they attempt to do anything worthwhile on our behalf.
As long as the present SYSTEM is in place, our government is doomed to failure. The FATAL SYSTEM ERROR occurred years ago, but no one has had the guts to press the RESET button.
If we only change a few office holders at a time, and we continue to re-elect the same people to office, we are insuring our continued decline. High treason has occurred, and most of our population can't even discern it!
Our government is suppose to be for, by, and of the people. Even the person holding the office of president, cannot do much but "play" like a leader. Ronald Reagan was opposed to abortion, and the unconstitutional practices of the IRS, but NOTHING changed in spite of his power and influence as the head man in America.
The SYSTEM is greater than, and above our national government in power and authority. If will retain this position, until we RE-BOOT our governmental program and start a TOTALLY NEW PROGRAM from scratch. We need to look COMPLETELY outside of the current two- party system and elect people who have NEVER held political office in the past. We need everyday people in office, not lawyers and others who believe they are elite beings who dwell on a higher plane then me and you.
It is time to RE-BOOT, who is brave enough to press that RESET button? If we don't start over with a clean slate, the VIRUS running in the background will infest every decent and moral person holding office. (or eliminate them) We have the people around to do the job, but we don't have enough people who are smart enough to place them into office. For a few dollars in handouts, the sluggards continue to elect santa clause to office. I say RESET, and do it now...
